Thousands of users mistakenly signed up for a management firm called Hive.com instead of the buzzy Twitter alternative, Hive Social.

Almost 4,000 people signed up for Hive.com on Monday, far above the site’s normal average, the news outlet reported.

Many of the people who registered had mistaken the site for Hive Social, which is quickly becoming a favored alternative to Twitter. Hive Social is a mobile-only platform that is similar to Twitter but doesn’t use any of the algorithms that control what users see.

“They don’t read anything. They just click and sign up,” Hive.com’s chief marketing officer, Zuzanna Wilson, told MarketWatch. She said Hive.com had also seen a 330% increase in its recent daily web traffic.

Representatives for Hive.com did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment made outside normal working hours.
