Canton police offering alternative to fight porch pirates and make sure your gifts are under the tree [Video]

CANTON, CT (WFSB) – Tis the season of giving. But, for some, it’s a time of taking.

The holiday season is a popular time for thieves to steal packages from others.

However, Canton police are stepping in and providing an alternative to protect your presents.

“I probably do most of my shopping online, mostly amazon,” said Jess Bali, a Canton resident.

The popularity of online shopping is what keeps porch pirates and police on high alert, especially during this time of year.

Packages on front porches and doorsteps become easy targets for thieves.

To ensure your present will be under your tree this Christmas, Canton police are allowing residents to have their packages sent directly to the department, located at 45 River Road, between December 18 and 24th.
