Weston Amazon facility ramping up workload, hiring local employees [Video]

WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) – Amazon and the Village of Weston cut the ribbon on the company’s new delivery station Tuesday morning.

The facility, ‘Location WWI6,’ officially launched on July 11 and is ramping up its productivity. The distribution center currently employs 80 associates and has 40 delivery drivers. Amazon anticipates that they will reach over 150 associates and up to 200 delivery drivers at their central Wisconsin location.

“The goal for a site like this is to give packages to those customers in a much more timely manner,” site lead Lucas Wilson said.

Weston Village Administrator Jami Gebert says that the e-commerce company approached the village about building its distribution center, and they went to work quickly.

“This process went actually fairly fast,” Gebert said. “It’s been a little less than a year actually from start to finish.”
