19-Year-Old Connecticut College Student Dead in Rollover Crash [Video]

A 19-year-old Connecticut college student was killed and four others were injured in a car crash over the weekend.

Maria Rita Da Mata was identified as the victim in the April 27 crash, Central Connecticut State University president Zulma Toro said in a message to the school.

“My heart goes out to Maria Rita Da Mata’s family,” Toro said, according to Patch and the New York Daily News. “Maria was well on her way to completing a degree in marketing from our School of Business. The university family will keep the Da Mata family in our thoughts and prayers.”

State police said that a 21-year-old unidentified man was driving southbound on River Road just after 10 p.m. local time when he lost control and the vehicle rolled over, NBC affiliate WVIT reported.
