Aqua Angels shattering racial water safety bias [Video]

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, drowning continues to be the leading cause of unintentional death among children ages 1 to 4. A new report set to be released next week reveals the long-standing racial disparities in water safety among African American and Hispanic families.Aqua Angels, an Upstate nonprofit, wants to make sure everyone has access to swim lessons. Aqua Angels started giving free lessons in 2021 by Rebekah Craig after a close friend of hers drowned during a fishing trip with friends. The organization says it helps people from all communities overcome fears and anxieties about jumping into deep water.
